It was after watching the homie @s.mastorelli ‘s video with @yutohorigome’s @nikesb Matcha Dunks, I felt a spark like I had to create something of my own. I wrote the dialogue, bought the shoes and reached out to Bill, who was kind enough to let us shoot at @njskateshop (huge thanks, always). Filmed also at @treehousejc for the matcha cameos. The skater in the video is Iggy, a special human being that I made a short film about few years ago in Jersey City. Reconnecting for this project just felt right. At its core, this piece is about growing up. About how turning 18 changed everything, the streets, the skate scene, the way Yuto has expressed about himself. It’s about carrying the weight of decisions, of expectations, of dreams that sometimes feel too far away… and still choosing to move forward. Skateboarding, for Yuto, has always been more than tricks, its identity. It’s how he processes life. It’s how he learned to fall and get back up. And this video? It’s a reflection of all of that. The pressure, the questions, the hope and the quiet courage it takes to keep going anyway. As the saying goes in the end of the video, “This is mine to live.”
